Ho'oponopono: "To Make Things Right"

Hoʻoponopono is a traditional Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and Forgiveness. Ho'o means 'to make' and pono 'right', referring to achieving harmony with the people in your life, yourself, and the world around you.

The practice incorporates four key steps to achieve inner peace and improve your relationships with others.

It involves self-reflection with: 

  • Expressing Repentance ~ I am sorry
  • Ask for Forgiveness ~ Please forgive me
  • Expressing Gratitude ~ Thank you
  • Expressing Love ~ I love you. 

How to Practice Ho'oponopono?

  • Find a quiet and pe​aceful area. Take some slow, deep breaths to calm your mind and prepare for meditation.
  • Let's practice repeating four powerful mantras: "I am sorry, please forgive me, thank you, and I love you." Let's say each one slowly and with intention. 
  • Reflect on these mantras and evoke emotions of remorse, forgiveness, gratitude, and love.
  • Release negative emotions by imagining them leaving your body. 
  • Take a moment of silence to absorb the calm and positive energy within you.
