योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्

(1,2,3,4,5)

Yoga promotes harmony between the body & mind. It fosters equilibrium in emotions, thoughts, and intellect. Engaging in yoga can provide children with a variety of physical, mental, & emotional advantages.

What is the minimum age to practice Yoga?

Experts recommend starting children as young as 5 years old with Yoga, often incorporating games, songs, and play to keep them interested. Older kids can progress to more challenging techniques like meditation and dynamic poses for overall health.

How will my child benefit from Yoga?

  1. Yoga benefits children by enhancing physical strength, flexibility, lung and heart functions, sensory motor skills, and nervous system processing.
  2. It also improves memory, attention, concentration, planning, and execution skills.
  3. Furthermore, yoga can enhance emotional stability, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve overall well-being by reducing negative emotions like fear and aggression.

What kind of Yoga practices are useful for Children?
  1. Children aged 5-10 should focus on asanas, mantras, and yogic games with a bit of pranayama.
  2. Older children can hold asanas longer, practice different breathing techniques, and meditation.
  3. Sun salutations, Nadishuddhi pranayama, and chanting should be taught to all children aged 5 & above.

Ways to get kids into yoga

  1. Learning yoga poses can be made fun & engaging for children through various methods like using animations, & music.
  2. Short practice sessions should include games, poses, breathing exercises, & meditation.
  3. Focusing on interaction, relaxation, and integrating breath and mindfulness is crucial.
  4. It is essential to adjust postures to cater to the needs & preferences of kids.
