Come monsoons and car owners start worrying about it. Most car owners incur maximum expenditure during this season of the year as it calls for heavy maintenance of your vehicle keeping in mind the unpredictable weather conditions and extreme rainfall. The car maintenance expenses are not based on choice but on compulsion. One usually does not ignore the car maintenance costs that come along in this season as it is a matter of personal safety. For instance, a proper car servicing before monsoon season is extremely vital in order to drive safe on the roads. In India, the monsoon is not just light drizzles; most states receive heavy rainfall and as a result, the cases of water logging and car accidents are on a rise especially after the first showers as the streets are slippery.

In India, most car accidents occur in the season of monsoon. The main reason behind this fact is that the level of awareness is very less and most people do not take any precautionary measures to avoid mishaps or accidents. There are a lot of people who also do not know how to recover the losses caused by these accidents during monsoons. The government of India has made it a strict rule that each and every vehicle owner; whether it is a two wheeler or a four wheeler, must have insurance online. However, the actual study says that almost 50% of the vehicles on Indian roads do not have a proper car insurance policy. The biggest natural calamity that incurred a huge loss to the insurance sector was the 26th July floods in Mumbai. This incident alone incurred a major loss to the entire sector. This included local trains, auto rickshaws, cabs, local buses, trucks, tempos, four wheelers and two wheelers.

During monsoons, there are three major factors that damage your vehicle. The first one is water logged streets, large potholes and dirt. One must follow certain precautionary measures to protect one’s car and keep losses under control. You can start by sending your car for a regular servicing right before the season starts. Make sure you send your vehicle to a trustworthy service centre or a mechanic in order to get the right service. The engine oil, air filter and fuel filter must be replaced. The suspension and silencer of your car must be thoroughly checked as these two are affected the most in this season. Moving on, check your car tyres as well. The treads on your car tyre must be deep enough (Consider this as a sign of safety). If the treads are not deep, your car is likely to skid on a slippery road making it risky for you. Also, check the essential lights of your car like tail lights, head lamps, emergency lights and parking lights. Get them replaced if they are not working properly. The most important component is the brake. Get your car brakes checked properly in order to ensure safe and efficient handling. Get your car wipers checked. If they make noise or the rubber has started peeling off, get them replaced.

Last but not the least; get car insurance to protect your car in the right way. A car policy could help you manage your losses incurred by damages caused due to rains. Make sure your policy is renewed on time.
