​​Formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is a subsidiary of Japanese manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC). SMIL is the largest automobile company in India and owns almost 50% of the market share. The company was incorporated in 1981 and the joint venture agreement with SMC was signed in 1982.

In 1983, MSIL launched the Maruti 800, which was a 796CC hatchback. Today, the company offers a complete range of vehicles such as Alto, Ciaz, Ritz, Dzire, Estillo, Wagon R, A Star, Grand Vitara, SX4, and many more. Since its inception, MSIL has manufactured and sold more than 7.5 million vehicles in India and exported more than 500,000 vehicles to Europe and other nations.

​Maruti Ciaz is a sedan and competes with Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Skoda Rapid in this segment. The car was launched in 2014 and is a successor of the SX4. Ciaz has grown in popularity over a short period because of its stylish appearance and design.
