Renault is a French multinational automobile manufacturer established in 1899. Renault India Pvt. Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault S.A., France. Launched in September 2015, the Renault KWID was aimed to appeal to the small-cars market segment. With the launch of the Renault KWID, Renault India registered a growth of 160% in domestic sales in December 2015.
Kwid gave a tough run to the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, which was a hot pick for car buyers back then. What made Kwid a hit in the Indian market was localization of components which drastically brought down its cost and weight. The stylish SUV-ish Kwid not only presented lower maintenance costs than competing brands but also higher mileage. In March 2016, Renault India launched the new and promising Renault Duster and the company has been winning hearts in India ever since.
