The Ignis is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol engine produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque while the diesel engine produces 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. However, the Ignis also comes with a 5-speed AMT gearbox for petrol as well as diesel engines.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is available in four variants- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The paint options available for this car are- Glistening Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, Tinsel Blue, Uptown Red, Urban Blue. Besides, there are three options for the roof colour on the top-spec trims, namely, Tinsel Blue W/Arctic White, Tinsel Blue W/Midnight Black, Uptown Red W/Midnight Black. Maruti Suzuki Ignis competes against the entry-level B-segment hatches, which include the Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo, Tata Bolt, and the Mahindra KUV100.
