Not all people look for an allopathic treatment all times when they are suffering from a disease. There are still people who want to try Ayurveda. In 2013 IRDAI asked the insurers to provide AYUSH treatment as a part of their coverage as well. Also, the government has been trying a lot to develop these alternate medicines and has promised good hospitals for Ayurveda as well. Ayurveda is the medical science developed in India and has been used for a long time. It has made a lot of progress and new developments but now has been significantly replaced by allopathic treatment. In this pandemic there are several health insurances including Corona Kavach Policy and Corona Rakshak Policy that cover the AYUSH treatment.

What is AYUSH treatment?

AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. Under the AYUSH the person can get cover for any of these treatments which are the alternates of allopathic sciences. AYUSH is the part of the government and for its development, AYUSH ministry was formed. It was formed to look after the development of AYUSH sciences as prevalent medicine technique. Despite a lot of efforts by Government still, the rural and urban both households are more inclined towards the allopathic treatment.

AYUSH Benefits

After IRDAI asked the insurer to include Ayush Treatment in their medical cover there was an increase in demand and insurers launched competitive plans to increase the reach of these plans to people.

What do Ayush Benefits cover?

Any health insurance with the inclusion of AYUSH treatment covers all the alternate medical sciences mentioned in the policy. All the fees regarding the yoga in state and part of preventive wellness add on is also reimbursed to the person. The insurance under this benefit can range anywhere from 2500 to 20,000 depending on the plan which the person can opt for.

Things not covered under AYUSH treatment

The only important thing to remember is that the costs regarding the AYUSH treatment is only reimbursed when the treatment happens at a government-approved hospital or centre. AYUSH does not cover the treatment expenses that are just for the evaluation or check-up for the person. Also, treatment at a health care facility which is not approved and not a hospital is excluded.

Reasons to choose Ayush treatment

There are simple reasons for why one can prefer AYUSH treatment if their health insurance covers it

  • The treatment may take time but is known to be highly effective
  • The cost of AYUSH treatment is significantly low in comparison to any kind of allopathic treatment.
  • The cover can be provided to all the locations and all the places and thus the treatment is widely available.
  • The important thing that at some location the alternative treatment could be the only treatment that is available to them
  • Elderly people prefer AYUSH treatment and thus a cover for a senior citizen should have an AYUSH cover along with it.

  • Choose between different health insurance plans and find the best one which can suit all your need and can cover the AYUSH treatment.
