Spain Visa Renewal Process for Indian Citizens

– Please note that this entire process must be carried out on Firefox. It will not work on Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge or on any of the newer browsers.

There is a way to renew your Spanish NLV (Non-Lucrative Visa) or tourist visa. For that, you will need to get a digital certificate.

This process will take up to a week and requires in-person verification, but, thankfully, it can be done at any point in time. So, we highly recommend you apply for one even if you’ve got plenty of time until you need to renew. You also get one copy of this certificate, so keep it safe once you get it.

Here’s the step-by-step renewal process –

  1. Once you get your digital certificate and have your supporting documents (Scanned) in order, head to the official Electronic headquarters website. Also, open your digital certificate and keep it open throughout this entire process.
  2. The file size of all your scanned documents put together must not exceed 16 MB, each file must be 6MB or less. And ALL pages of your passport, including the covers, must be scanned.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click the Access to Online Requests option. Click the continue option at the bottom of the next page. From here, you will need to create your case number, i.e., “Acceso individual”.
  4. In case you run into an error the site may have already created a case number for you, and you can either try this second link or go to this page and fill out your details.
  5. Proceed to fill out your details and upload all your documents. Next, download the EX-01 form given on the portal.
  6. Now, you need to validate and sign this document. Go to the Valide website, upload your form there and get it validated by clicking on Validate Certificate.
  7. Once you’ve validated your certificate, you need to get it signed. And for that, you’ll need to download the Autofirma app (Version 1, Alternate Versions). Make sure you update the software and then upload your digital certificate file onto the app.
  8. Next, upload your EX-01 form onto the Autofirma app, and get it signed and download the signed version.
  9. Upload your signed and validated back on to the ​Electronic headquarters website and download your application receipt. You will receive an email confirming the submission of your application in a couple of days.
