Reliance General First to Accept eRupee for Premiums

Reliance General Insurance has become the first insurance company to accept eRupee payments for premiums through a partnership with Yes Bank. Customers with eRupee wallets can now scan QR codes at select branches to make instant payments.

The eRupee, India's central bank digital currency, functions as a digital equivalent to physical money while offering the same anonymity. It provides a safer, faster, and more environmentally friendly payment option compared to cash transactions.

This follows Reliance Retail's earlier adoption of eRupee payments through Innoviti. Reliance General Insurance plans to expand the service nationwide and integrate it into its website and mobile app in the coming months, supporting the government's Digital India vision.
