Prepare Your EV for Rainy Days By CEO Rakesh Jain

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are becoming popular for their green credibility and low running costs. However, proper maintenance is key to ensuring smooth performance during the monsoon.

According to our CEO, Rajesh Jain, EV owners should focus on a few key aspects as the rainy season approaches.

As a pre-monsoon check, he says the EV should be inspected for damages to the battery, motor casing and instrument cluster to prevent flooding-related damages. Charging safety is crucial. You should ensure the area, pin, and port are dry. Cables must also be checked for damages, such as rodent bites, to prevent short circuits and expensive battery repairs.

While driving and parking, he advises avoiding water-logged areas to protect the battery from moisture. If the EV gets flooded, it should be taken for a thorough examination, as water leakage can damage the battery assembly.

Motor insurance for EVs is a must-have for financial protection against these risks, not just during monsoons but throughout the year. Comprehensive motor insurance covers third-party liabilities and own damages against various risks. It also has personal accident cover for the owner/driver in case of accidental injuries, death or permanent disabilities.

He recommends considering add-on covers, such as Nil Depreciation, Return to Invoice and Consumables Protection, for additional protection. EV-specific add-ons, like EV Charger Cover and EV Battery Cover, cover various EV-specific risks, such as electricity fluctuation and fluid ingression.

To protect yourselves and your EVs from unforeseen risks, you can consider these factors and purchase comprehensive coverage with useful add-ons.
