When it comes to cruiser bikes, the first name that comes to your mind is Royal Enfield Thunderbird. Flaunting a buff structure and an ergonomic design, this bike is perfect for covering long distances. Royal Enfield Thunderbird was launched in the year 2002 with a 350cc AVL lean burn engine and 5-speed gearbox. Exclusively made for the Indian market, Thunderbird made its place in everyone’s heart in no time. In 2009, the bike’s AVL engine was replaced with the new 346 cc engine. The only noticeable change made was the shifting of final drive chain to the right side.
In October 2012, new 350 cc and 500 cc variants of the Thunderbird was launched with a facelift. With a complete makeover, this bike now features a front and rear disc brakes, a 20 L teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a digital speedometer console, split seat, fuel gauge, LED tail lights, projector headlamps, and various other improvements. Thunderbird 500 variant got a fuel injection system whereas the 350cc variant operates on a carburettor. Lastly, Royal Enfield launched another upgraded model in the year 2018 and named it Thunderbird X in 350 and 500 cc.
