Choose A Perfect Car Type For Yourself

Gone are the days when cars were considered a luxury - today cars are more of a necessity. Especially in metros, cars have become an indispensable part of people’s lives. Perhaps, the biggest advantage of owning a car is that whenever life becomes stressful, you can just hop into your car, drive yourself away from the maddening city chaos into the arms of nature, and explore new places. Some car owners swear by the fact that driving is the best stress buster.

Buying a car means investing a huge sum of your hard-earned money but with new styles and types of cars being launched on a monthly basis, one can easily get confused. Here’s a short guide that will help you get rid of your confusion and help select your dream car that matches your personality.

Sedan
A sedan (US) or saloon (British variant) is a 4-door car with a  capacity of more than 4 passengers. It has an attached trunk to keep luggage. The most important feature of a sedan is its unique 3-box design where each of the box is used for engine, passenger and cargo. Sedans can be either luxury sedans such as Audi A4 or sports sedan such as Honda Civic Accord.

Hatchbacks
Hatchbacks are generally 4-door cars with a rear door that opens upwards providing additional space to keep luggage. They are generally sleek and compact having a passenger capacity of 4 to 5 but less comfortable than a sedan. Maruti Suzuki Swift is the most popular hatchback that one can be spotted on Indian roads.

Coupe
Considered as a 2-door variant of sedan, Coupe is very popular with young car enthusiasts for its sporty look. It has a very small rear and is generally a 2-seater. However, 4-door variants are now becoming more popular. Best example of a Coupe is the Ford Mustang.

Convertible
What makes a convertible so appealing is its retractable roof structure, which can be opened or closed easily. It is generally a 2-door car such as Ferrari. But, we all know that buying a Ferrari is not everyone’s cup of tea because convertibles are one of the most expensive cars in the world. So, if you plan to buy a convertible, it’ll be a good idea to buy a car insurance for it too.

SUV
Sports utility vehicle aka SUV has a 4-wheel design. It is comparatively bigger than all of the above-mentioned cars and has an increased ground clearance thereby providing on-roading and off-roading capabilities. Passenger capacity may range from 5 to 7. Mahindra SUV and Renault Duster are the most popular SUVs in India.

Now that you know about the various types of cars available in the market, go to your nearest showroom and buy the car you secretly desired. But, before you take it out for a spin, don’t forget to get a car insurance to drive legally in India!
