Safety Tips For Your Two Wheeler In Monsoon

Monsoon is poetic, enigmatic, and charming. Everything looks and feels better in the rainy season. But, is this the same for two wheeler owners? No! It’s not a cake walk to ride and maintain your two wheeler in the rainy season. Not only the wet and slippery roads are a pain, but the potholes and sudden breakdown of your bike can be a problem too. The number of accidents increases in this season, all thanks to the poorly maintained roads and hazy visibility in the rain. To avoid mishaps, you should regularly service your two wheeler and secure it with two wheeler insurance policy

Here are a few tips that will help you take care of your ride when it pours heavily outside-

1.     Apply anti-rust protection layer-
Rain and atmosphere can contribute to the rusting process, thereby damaging the parts of your two wheeler. These days, most bikes have rust-resistant fibre bodies, but their mainframes are made from rust-prone metals. You should take precaution against the damp climate and coat the metal frame with a layer of anti-rust protection.

2.    Choose covered parking spots-
During monsoon, avoid parking your two wheeler in the open. Rainwater can get inside the vehicle and damage major electrical parts, thereby leading to long-term problems. Try and find parking with a shed that can protect your bike from the rain. Caution! Never park your bike under a tree as heavy rain can cause a branch to fall and damage your vehicle.

3.    Use a rain cover
When it rains outside, everything gets cluttered. It can be difficult for you to find a covered parking spot. To avoid this situation, carry a fitted waterproof cover and use it when a proper parking spot is unavailable.

4.    Pay special attention to oil chains, hinges, and levers
Oil chains, hooks, and bars are prone to rust when exposed to water. Rusting can restrict the proper movement of your bike. To keep your two wheeler in an excellent working condition, you should regularly oil these parts. Also, you can coat the battery terminals with grease to avoid water seepage.

5.     Service your two wheeler’s brakes and tyres
Brakes and tyres are the essential parts of a two wheeler. Extreme exposure to water can damage both brakes and tyres. Due to rain, the brakes pads get slippery, rusty, and jammed. Also, they become less responsive and hence it is advisable that you should not press the brake too hard when the roads are slippery as it can cause the two wheeler to skid. On the other hand, you should get the tyres changed when they start balding, or the treads are less than 2-3 mm deep. Get your bike serviced regularly to keep them roaring on the road like always.

6.    Check headlights
Poor visibility is a significant issue when you are riding a two wheeler in the rains. Powerful headlights can help you see appropriately during the inclement weather. Moreover, you can put reflective stickers on your bike so that you are easily visible to other drivers on the road.

7.    Wear protective gear
You should never compromise with your safety while you are enjoying the beautiful weather. It’s great to take safety measures for your bike, but you should consider your safety first. Don’t forget to wear helmet, raincoat, and gumboots when you go out in the rains.

Last but not the least, according to the new Motor Insurance act, its mandatory to have two wheeler insurance. So, without further ado, buy Reliance Two Wheeler insurance now to protect your bike against theft, calamities, and other risks.
