Basic DIY Tips To Make your Bike Look New

Does the word bike evoke passion and joy within you? If yes, you are in the right place. Many of us dream to own a super stylish bike in our teenage years. Simply put, the lure and attraction of a bike is next to none.

With the kind of passion we have for bikes, it is indeed a very proud and exciting moment when you get the keys of your first bike. The feeling is simply unrivalled. The bike becomes the centre of our universe. You leave no stone unturned in taking care of it. However, as the years roll on, the bike tends to lose its shine and glamour. The paint becomes dull and riding it becomes uninteresting. In order to ensure you don’t find yourself in this situation, let us discuss few ways to make your bike look new all the time!

With few steps, you can ensure that your bike looks as good as it looks in the showroom. To begin with, clean your bike prudently with a thorough wash. You can use any good bike cleaning shampoo/soap for this purpose. While washing, make sure to scrub with a soft cloth or a sponge. This will remove all the dirt and grime properly. That said, be careful not to put too much water near the electricals which can lead to their damage and malfunction. Also, ensure that you do not apply pressure to the point where the paint gets damaged.

The next step after washing is to remove the excess water from the bike. To do this, use a dry soft cloth and soak water from all the areas and wipe it dry. It is very crucial to ensure that there is no accumulated water in any area. Water tends to collect at places such as fuel lid, spark plug and battery terminals. If this is not taken care of, water causes the parts to rust and degrade the bike gradually. It can also impact the bike’s performance to a significant extent.

Moving on now is the time to apply polish post cleaning. Again, there are numerous brands available in the market for buying a polish. As per your needs and convenience, you can choose either a wax polish or a normal one. Regular polish is comparatively easy to apply. Take some of the polish on a piece of foamy sponge and apply it on the bike body. Roll the foam in a circular motion to cover maximum area or as per the given instructions. Make sure to apply the polish evenly and leave it for at least fifteen minutes.

Coming to the last part, it is time to get the polish off. Take a dry soft cloth to wipe it off across the paint.  Ensure that the cloth is clean. When this is done, the bike is sure to put a smile on your face. Your shiny bike will definitely look all new! Once you are all set, the next thing you would want to do is take the bike for a ride. While you are at it, make sure you carry all the important documents with you such as driving licence, registration papers, bike insurance policy copy and so on.
