How to Plan Your Honeymoon during Covid-19? Safety Precautions to be Taken

How to Plan Your Honeymoon during Covid-19? Precautions to be Taken while Travelling

The spread of Covid-19 adversely affected several industries. The travel and tourism industry, in particular, took a significant hit because of the restrictions imposed and the danger that came with the virus. The outbreak of the Coronavirus also affected many wedding plans. While they found a solution by virtually organizing the wedding ceremonies, it has become quite difficult for couples to go honeymooning due to travel restrictions. However, with proper planning and precautions, you and your partner can make your honeymoon plans successful.

Here are some precautions and tips to remember while going on a honeymoon:

1. Decide whether to fly or drive

Road trips have become a popular option during the Covid-19 pandemic, since you can limit your interactions by traveling in a private vehicle. A staycation honeymoon at an Airbnb or hotel within driving distance is also a good idea as you can reduce your risk of getting exposed to the virus.

If you decide to fly either domestic or international, make sure you wear a mask at all times during the flight and follow social distance guidelines as much as possible. Check the restrictions in place at the destination and your state as well.

2. Purchase travel insurance

Given the high transmissibility of Covid-19, you should supplement your health insurance policy with Covid-19 coverage. Moreover, if you plan to travel, it is always advised that you purchase travel insurance to keep yourself and your partner financially protected.

If you plan to travel overseas, check the specific requirements of the country to which you plan to fly. Some destinations do not allow visitors to enter the country without proof that their travel insurance can cover medical costs, so get the right type of international travel insurance.

3. Research your choice of destination and accommodation

Before you finalise a destination and accommodation, read up about them well to know what to expect upon your arrival. Find out what restrictions the destination you are considering has and whether you can follow them without fail. Moreover, given how important hygiene is, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, check what Covid-19 protocols (social distancing, use of masks, frequent sanitization, and the like) the hotel follows, what the hotel's cancellation and refund policies are, and so on.

4. Go outdoors

Going for an outdoor honeymoon to places, such as campgrounds, is a safer option since it is easier to follow social distancing guidelines there. Staying outdoors is also healthier as there is plenty of ventilation, further reducing your risk of exposure to the novel coronavirus. Moreover, you may be able to find a great outdoor spot not very far from where you live, so do not dismiss this option.

5. Get a test done 72 hours before travelling

Many destinations require passengers to show a negative COVID-19 test result to be allowed entry. Since these rules are fluid and can change at any time, you and your partner should get tested before travelling so that you have proof of not being infected with the virus.

Considering how risky it is to travel in current times, planning well and taking the required precautions can go a long way in keeping you and your partner safe while ensuring you have a memorable time together.
